"The love, support, and beautiful messages I've received from so many of you have truly helped carry me through the hardest moment of my life," she wrote

Ozzy died on July 22 at age 76

Kelly Osbourne is remembering her father, Ozzy Osbourne.

In an Instagram Stories post shared on Monday, Aug. 4, Kelly, 40, reflected on her father's death.

"I've sat down to write this a hundred times and still don't know if the words will ever feel like enough.. but from the bottom of my heart, thank you," Osbourne wrote, thanking fans for their support following her dad's death on July 22 at age 76. "The love, support, and beautiful messages I've received from so many of you have truly helped carry me through the hardest moment of my life. Every kind word, every shared memory, every bit of compassion has meant more than I can ever explain."

Kelly continued: "Grief is a strange thing-it sneaks up on you in waves—I will not be ok for a while-but knowing my family are not alone in our pain makes a difference. I'm holding on tight to the love, the light, and the legacy left behind."

She concluded her post, which included Ozzy's song "See You on the Other Side," thanking fans for "being there."

Ozzy's family announced his death on July 22, two weeks after he performed at the Black Sabbath farewell concert in Birmingham's Villa Park in England.

"It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning," the statement, obtained by PEOPLE, read. "He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time."

Kelly also paid tribute to the Black Sabbath frontman days later, on July 24. "I feel unhappy I am so sad," Kelly wrote on her Instagram Stories at the time, featuring the Black Sabbath song "Changes." "I lost the best friend I ever had 💔"

Days before Ozzy died, Kelly shared a home video of her, the rock legend and his grandson, Sidney. In the clip, Kelly pans the camera to her 2-year-old son and Ozzy, who is listening to his iPad. Kelly asked Ozzy to say good morning to her followers, which he does.

She told PEOPLE in May about Sidney and Ozzy's relationship, gushing that they are "best friends."

"So, favorite time of the day is nighttime because [Sidney] leaves me and gets in bed with my mom and dad because I'm staying in their house right now while my house is getting ready," she said at the time." "And he goes and gets in bed with them and they have cartoon time together and it is the sweetest thing ever. I have to literally rip him out."

Ozzy was honored in Birmingham on July 30 with a funeral procession leading up to the Black Sabbath bridge and bench, which had become a public memorial for the "Paranoid" singer. His wife Sharon and his children Louis, Aimee, Kelly and Jack all attended the emotional event.
